Project Description
This Tadashi Shoji collection was inspired by the work of the artist Wu Junyong‘s short film titled “The Flying Ark”. Tadashi used the film to open the show at New York Fashion Week, 2017. You will see the animation overlaid in my interpretation.
The other distinctive characteristic of this collection was the use of parachute material. This is what inspired me to overlay the sky and the clouds to amplify the floating quality of the gowns. Aside from how beautifully their fabric moves in space, I love that these gowns are both ethereal and practical… the parachute fabric doesn’t crease so you can roll it up stick it in your suitcase and when you take it out it’ll be perfect!
